UPDATE 10/05/18 11:20 a.m.: In a statement to the Duquesne community, President Gormley said he felt “great sadness” in reporting the death of Marquis Brown, a Duquesne University football player and junior in the McAnulty College of Liberal Arts.
Brown was from the Washington D.C. area and was listed as a running back on the 2018 football roster.
President Gormley said a memorial service is planned for Sunday with more details to come.

Marquis Brown, believed to be a Duquesne student, was hospitalized late Thursday night after a fall from a window of the 16th floor of Brottier Hall.
At 10:31 p.m., city police responded to a report of a male who jumped, according to the Pittsburgh Police.
In a statement to The Duke, Pittsburgh Police said that campus police had been sent to the 16th floor to investigate an altercation. While campus police spoke to Brown, he jumped out of the nearby window.
He was transported to UPMC Mercy Hospital and has been pronounced dead, according to the police statement.
The investigation is active.
