AP — P.J. Fulmore and Klartel Claridy both rushed for over 100 yards and Duquesne rolled up 571 yards offense in a 47-7 victory over Kentucky Christian in a season opener on Saturday.
Fulmore rushed for 128 yards and Claridy added 105, including a 43-yard touchdown. Zach DeNardo ran for two scores, including a 40-yarder. The Dukes rushed for 373 yards.
Virginia transfer Dominique Terrell took in a 9-yard pass from Dillon Buechel for the first of three first-quarter touchdowns scored by the Dukes. Trenton Coles forced a fumble that Dane O’Driscoll returned 59 yards for a score and Rafiq Douglas ran in from 3 yards out to make it 21-0.
A field goal by Austin Crimmins and scoring runs by DeNardo and Claridy put Duquesne ahead 37-0 at halftime.
The lone touchdown for the NAIA Knights came on Robert Powell’s 56-yard pass to Tyler Hadynski in the fourth quarter.
