The Duquesne women’s volleyball team rounded out Duquesne athletics’ “November to Remember” when they won the Atlantic 10 championship Nov. 24 in Washington, D.C.
The first overall Dukes defeated the second ranked Virginia Commonwealth Rams 3-1 in front of a largely Duquesne crowd at George Washington University’s Smith Center.
The Red & Blue won the first two sets 25-13 and 25-18 respectively, but following a 10 minute break before the third set the Rams came out with a new passion to win it 25-18. The Dukes then rebounded to pick up the fourth set and the victory 25-23 on a kill that landed in the middle of the Rams, who could not respond.
After the match, three members of the team’s members were named to the All-Championship team; Arielle Love, Marah Farage and Mary Henry. The Dukes will now take on No. 15 Kentucky in Lexington this Saturday in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
